
Mr. Mani Wangdi is a schoolteacher who teaches at Samtse Lower Secondary School. A father of two with a background in mathematics, hailing from Trashiyangtse, Phordung, a remote village in the natural beauty of Dongdichu Forest Management Unit.
He spends most of his time watching Birds and learning new things from them, he feels much happier and closer to nature. That is why one of the greatest joys in his life is to watch birds. He always had an undying passion for birds since his childhood days.
He started keeping accounts of the avifauna of Samtse from 2014, and later in 2017, he also started a systematic documentation of the same. After 7 years in July 2020, Dragon Birding Amigos, the avid birders of Samtse authored a book “A Guide to the Birds of Samtse” covering some 271 species. He will be speaking on three lapwings found in Samtse. Not only will he take us through his amazing birding journey but also share challenges posed by development for the birds at the local level.
